Manganese-modified lignin biochar as adsorbent for removal of methylene blue

نویسندگان

چکیده

Methylene blue, a prevalent cationic type dye, has been extensively utilized in textile industry. Lignin generates as byproduct and its utilization is required to add potential economic benefit of biorefinery process. Lignin-derived porous biochar, promising adsorbent, was propitiously prepared by chemical modification with different oxidation number manganese compounds (KMnO4, MnSO4, MnO2). The adsorption capacity MnO2-loaded biochar methylene blue dye substantially higher relative original biochar. maximum 248.96 mg/g removal rate 99.73%, compared 234.65 94.0% for unmodified In comparison, the decolorization modified exceeded 95%. Substantial results showed that strong binding affinity MnO2 Adsorption kinetics described quasi-second order model isotherm better fitted Langmuir model. research provides way from wastewater through manufacture adsorbent
